|Seaside Cheese - gourmet cheese & food|
One artisanal cheese gallery is in Cape May County, New Jersey - Seaside Cheese is located south of the inn. The Cheese Board may be found in Central Square (Atlantic County, NJ), north of the island and closer to Ocean City.
The Cheese Board is the larger of the two and located in a small village-style shopping area. That makes it a fun destination for lunch - featuring gourmet cheeses (of course), but also salads, sandwiches, and tempting sweets. They have packaged food items, gourmet baskets, and sandwich trays for purchase, as well. Following lunch, you could stroll around Central Square enjoying the varied shops.
Seaside Cheese, is a simple, family-owned shop with a nook for indoor dining. They feature a selection of soup, sandwiches, and a cheese & fruit plate du jour. When visiting recently, I tried the Paris Panini - creamy brie with fig jam on a Le Bus baguette - delicious! They also have an array of artisanal foods and a selection of cheeses for purchase. I couldn't resist Dorothea (goat) Cheese and a bottle of Duffinetti's Pesto Sauce once I sampled these in the store as a unique pairing. Farther away from the inn, a visit to Seaside Cheese could be combined with a visit to a Cape May County winery for an enjoyable day.
INNsider Tip: Seaside Cheese offers a "Private Cheese Tasting" after hours, by reservation only, BYO wine & explore the world of cheese on a plate!
Both shops offer samples of current cheeses, dips, crackers, and the like making a visit extra tempting...and a purchase irresistible!
