The Ocean City Boardwalk is a Site for Culture, too!

Ocean City Boardwalk Art Show
Surprising, but true.  The Ocean City Boardwalk - famous for amusement rides, pizza & caramel popcorn, the scent of suntan oil, and salty sea air - is also home to cultural events!

In fact, this year marks the 50th Anniversary of one of the most unique special events on the boardwalk - the Boardwalk Art Show!  It is under the direction of the OC Arts Center and is a "juried" show meaning that artists "...must submit examples of their work to the Arts Center in order to qualify for admission. This process ensures a high-quality show of a diverse group of styles, mediums, and price-levels."

The show is always held the first full weekend in August; this year the dates are August 3, 4, and 5.  You can stroll the boardwalk (between 7th & 12th streets) enjoying the exhibit and also have the opportunity to purchase art directly from the artists. Getting to the show is simple for Scarborough Inn guests - we are about 5-minutes walk from the boardwalk!

This event helped launch the Ocean City Arts Center, officially incorporated as a non-profit arts organization in 1967, and now housed in the Community Center.  You can visit the Arts Center throughout the year to view current exhibits, take classes, or attend special events.

  1. One of my favorite events of the summer. We have bought some quality art at affordable prices. We also enjoy visiting the Arts Center in the Community Center to see their gallery shows which change each month–again affordable, quality art work. OC has a very active visual and performing arts community.
