|Memorial Day Weekend Activities|
The Memorial Day Weekend opens at the Moorlyn Terrace Beach adjacent to the Music Pier. On Friday, May 27 at noon, Mayor Jay Gillian will turn a large wooden key to officially Open the Ocean. Martin Z. Mollusk, our relatively famous hermit crab, will observe the procedure. The Cumberland Regional High School Choir will sing "Under the Boardwalk" as Martin is carried to the ocean to test the waters. The crustacean will dip his major claw into the waves to signal the start of the Business Person's March and over 100 merchants, many in business attire, will march into the Atlantic. This is our community's way of welcoming the new season and Ocean City's many valued visitors.
South Side Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, compatriots of Bruce Springsteen, will perform at the Music Pier (Boardwalk & Moorlyn Terrace) on Saturday, May 28, at 8 p.m. The band performs all over the world and this is a rare opportunity to enjoy them in Ocean City. This concert will appeal to all ages. Tickets are $30 in advance, $35 at the door. Access www.brownpapertickets.com or call 1-800-838-3006.
On Sunday, May 29, Sand Artist Joe Castillo, will project his colorful sand art onto large screens at the Tabernacle (5th Street and Wesley Ave.) at 7 p.m. Admission is Free. Call 609-399-1915 for additional information.
Monday, May 30 will include traditional Memorial Day observances. Beginning at 9:15 a.m., Ocean City Lifeguards will row a distance from the Moorlyn Terrace Beach and place a Wreath into the Ocean to honor the men and women who have sacrificed their lives for our country. The city's annual Memorial Day Service will be held at Veterans Memorial Park (5th Street and Wesley Avenue) at 11 a.m.*
The Scarborough Inn B&B is centrally located and convenient to these Activities and Special Events - all are within walking distance of the inn!
