Scarborough Inn Bed & Breakfast STAFF APPRECIATION PICNIC

We are fortunate to have a wonderful international staff at the Scarborough Inn Bed and Breakfast and they help to insure that our guests' Jersey shore vacation is wonderful! Guest comment cards indicate that they succeed. It has become our tradition to host a Staff Appreciation Picnic as a gesture of thanks to our entire crew.

We have an incomparable core staff of locals who are the heart of our business. We appreciate their loyalty, hard work, and commitment to the highest standards. They certainly contribute to our high percentage of return guests and referrals. Sincere thanks to Jennifer Freeman, Manager, who wears MANY hats admirably; Marie, Head Housekeeper, who efficiently & successfully works with a new staff every season; and Miss Linda, Inn Cook, who lovingly feeds bodies and soothes souls.

Front Desk personnel include Jane (always enthusiastic & pleasant to everyone - she has a beautiful singing voice, too), Casey (a wonderful new addition who will be attending university in Scotland starting this fall), and Chris (who returned this summer before going off to write the Great American Novel - we can say we knew him when!). They all make a great first impression on our visitors!

The remainder of the American contingent includes Bob (Maintenance) who joined us last season and fills a number of roles - all with great professionalism - the inn has never looked better thanks to his efforts! Stephanie, (a young professional cook) works at the inn part-time assisting in the kitchen and filling in on Linda's day off. She is a great asset and we are grateful for her contributions to Breakfast and Afternoon Refreshments for our guests.

University students from around the world constitute the remainder of the staff. They come to us through an agency that facilitates a work exchange program. It is a marvel to observe young adults (many who have never been outside their national borders) meet, live, and work with others that they would never have encountered without this opportunity. This year's group is exceptional and we certainly appreciate all of them!

This season's international contingent includes: Dmitry (Russia), Oguzhan (Turkey), Ilcho (Bulgaria), Joana (Macedonia), Ivana (Macedonia), Xi (China), and Patrizia (Italy). Each of the students told the group a little bit about their homeland, what they are studying at university, their future plans, and their impressions about America. They all agreed Ocean City is a very pleasant place to live and work in for the summer.

We provided a "typical" American picnic of fried chicken, corn on the cob, potato salad & cole slaw, watermelon, tomato salad, cake and ice cream. Linda (on guitar) and Jane provided some songs with a little help from Chris and Casey and a very feeble contribution from the rest of us. The "Scarborough Singers" need a lot of practice before we can become an international sensation.
